Jere, have you tried your H.264 version of SA on any standard def files from the new HD-PVR device? If so, what kind of performance did you get?

I'm interested because I only have one HD extender and the PC hardware on my other two clients are not powerful enough to playback HD H.264 so I'll only be recording SD H.264 until I can get two more HD extenders (or build two new client PC's)

Yup, even uninstalled everything, re-installed and still getting both .txt and .edl files. But SA is set up for edl only according to its GUI...

Weird. I just double checked my recording directories, and I only see edl files. Might need to post your global.ini file (remove password for webserver if doing so).

It must be something with DirMon2...I switched to the older DirMon and now I just get the .edl file and detection is great. Running SA itself also gave .edl as well...only when using DM2, would the .txt file would appear.

I just finish upgrading from Showanalyzer 0.6.5 to 0.9.7. I also went ahead and upgraded Dirmon to Dirmon2.

I erased all of my old txt files and had Dirmon2 and Showanalyzer recreates edl files. Everything went great. The accuracy detection rate has increased drastically..thanks Jere for your hard work.

I am having a problem with live detection. Dirmon2 kicks in and starts Showanalyzer. Showanalyzer starts processing but stops before the show has completed.

For example, I start recording a hour show. Showanalyzer starts processing than reaches the end of the file and never processes the remainder of the show. In reality there is still 50+ mins of the show that needs to be processed but has not been recorded. Since an edl file is created, Dirmon2 thinks that it has already processed the show.

I have tested a few things just to see where the issues are.

1) An edl file is created with one very small time stamp
2) If I delete the edl file before the show ends (say 30 mins before) it will process it up to what it has recorded and than stop.
3) If I delete the edl file after the show has been recorded. Dirmon2 and Showanalyzer process the show without issues.

I have included the dirmon.ini and global.ini for Showanalyzer to help see if there is a problem with my configurations.

Your help is greatly appreciated...

Hmm...wonder if there is a $50 Amazon Gift card in this for me, LOL, just kidding...check out the WebServer thread for details on that one!

I don't see anything wrong with your DM2 settings.

Strange detail in the global.ini though, you have a defaultoutLive = 1, and I am missing that line, although am using the same version you are.

Only other thing I have, is liveDelay = 1, instead of your 0.

Are you sure SA is exiting, and not just pausing? DM2 doesn't actually restart it on a live show, SA just pauses, and waits until more of the show is written. Check the processes to find out.

Thanks for your help.

I know that Showanalyzer is not paused because I started to watch the show a few hours (in some cases days) after it aired and there were no commercial time stamps.

I am going to change those settings that you suggested and see what happens.

Watching the show hours or days later, and relying on the fact that it just did not detect commercials is not a reliable way of saying that SA is not pausing. I bet if you check and see, you will find that SA is actually still running.

The fact that it did not find all the commercials is a different story. It could be your detection settings or something, that is keeping it from working correctly, other times, I find that some channels just do not work well with SA.

That was the issue that was preventing live commercial detection. Once I made that correction everything fell into place.

Thanks again..

It's been awhile since I've visited. I've been up to my knees in code, which is kinda impressive since code starts at the fingertips .

I have two announcements:

First:
ShowAnalyzerSuite V1.0 is ready to be beat down by the select adventurous few. I'm distributing the installer in a private forum at http://www.dragonglobal.biz/forums so if you feel like taking it for a spin, send me a PM over there and I'll add you to the forums where you can download it, try it and give me feedback.

For the not so adventurous, September 1st is release to the world day.

And, yes, it works on HD-PVR streams.

Second:
With ShowAnalyzerSuite V1.0 nearing release to the world at large, the price must increase to cover the higher royalties that the MPEG Licensing Authority requires.

Starting September 1st, the prices will be as follows:
ShowAnalyzerSuite (includes 1 year of upgrades): US$29.98
Maintenance Renewal (one additional year of upgrades starting from purchase date or expiration of current upgrade license, which ever is longer): US$14.99

The September 1st date is dependent on V1.0 being released that day.

As appreciation to the beta testers (not private testers), everyone who has purchased ShowAnalyzer prior to September 1st will get lifetime upgrades.

To cover the next royalty increase, there will be another price increase when I add the ability to actually cut the commercials out of the file. Since ShowAnalyzerSuite will then include encoders, the MPEG Licensing Authority will want more royalties. I am considering making the encoders (thus the higher price) optional, but I haven't decided yet. Regardless of my decision, it will be considered an upgrade, not a new product.

Enjoy,
Jere

Jere,

You ought to update your signature to reflect that the latest beta is 0.9.7.

Awesome!! Very obvious that you poured tons of time into it, thanks much for all the effort!

And now back to your regularly scheduled dumb questions:

How about r5000 recording dish network HD stuff, which is mpeg4? Good to go?

What kind of horsepower do we need to run it?

thanks again!

They should be. As long as they aren't in an AVI container, MPEG4 should work.

You should be running Windows 2000 at least. As far as horsepower, it doesn't require much, but if it is running on a 486, it might take a while. To give you an idea, realtime HD H.264 processing should be possible on a 2.4GHz P4 if nothing else is running.

Jere,
Please clarify.

1) If we purchased the existing product, you know like a year ago, we will continue to get free upgrades including the new version as we have all along? or 2) If we purchase the new non beta 1.0 version before Sept 1st we will be able to get lifetime upgrades from that point forward?

If 2 then how do we buy 1.0 before it is released?

Thanks,

Number 1.

Anyone who has ever purchased a license to ShowAnalyzer Beta will get a license to ShowAnalyzerSuite without any additional purchase. Anyone who purchased (or purchases) ShowAnalyzerBeta prior to September 1st will get lifetime upgrades as my way of showing appreciation for those early adopters.

Was that clearer?

Jere

Very nice! Thanks Jere! I tell you what, you have made that initial investment a bargain and you have put out a great piece of software. Keep up the good work.
