Linked IR commands with USB-UIRT keep disappearing
I'm using USB-UIRT directly with Sage (no Girder). I have had to re-link my remote commands about 10 times now because every few weeks the linked commands disappear from Sage. I have confirmed that the codes are no longer linked by using the "Show SageTV Commands linked to Infrared/Keystroke" option (nothing shows up for any buttons - definitely not a problem related to the "double" codes with the Hauppauge remote). This has happened with both the Hauppauge silver remote and my Comcast HDTV remote. I am running a PVR-350 (using the 350's TV-Out) and a PVR-150.
Has anyone seen a similar problem? Is there a file where the linked commands are stored so I can back them up and potentially paste them back when they get lost (I've looked in the sage properties file and don't see them)? I've dealt with or lived with a lot of Sage bugs (end of file causing 100% CPU and system lockup - still a problem, getting both PVR-350 and PVR-150 to work together - fixed, garbled UI on PC while TV out looks fine - still a problem, random anomalies with recorded shows when available video disk space gets low) but this is by far the most maddening problem because it's such a time waster. Thanks in advance for your replies. |

When using an IR receiver directly with SageTV, the learned commands are stored in the properties file, as the ui/rc_mappings/XX entries. I'm not sure why those entries would get cleared. Are you clearing that file by any chance? Maybe it is getting corrupted?

It sounds like your .properties file is not being saved -- check the last modified date, as it should be auto saved every few minutes.
If this is the problem, check the owner/permissions, and check that you are running Sage as the same owner or another Administrator, or the permissions on the file and directory allow Full Control to Anybody.

Thanks for the quick replies.
In answer to Opus4, I was about to reply that I don't see any ui/rc_mappings/XX entries in my Sage.properties file but I just found them in my SageClient.properties file (which I thought was for my SageClient program that runs on another PC and not my main Sage PC that has the capture cards and the one I'm writing about). Is that the normal file for them or would the fact that I have SageClient configured on another PC change the default file for all my properties? I didn't do anything to clear any of those files (my other properties such as channel lineups, clock sync etc., don't seem to be affected) but at least I now know where the learned commands are stored and I can make a copy of a valid file. In answer to nielm, my properties file is being saved as noted above as well as an "autobackup" version but changes are being applied only to the SageClient.properties file and not the Sage.properties file. To test this, I changed the "sync system clock" parameter and toggling between "true" and "false" only changed in the SageClient.properties file. |

When using service mode, the service uses sage.properties & the UI uses sageclient.properties. Are you using the service, or perhaps just using it sometimes? If you stop using the service , the UI will revert back to using sage.properties, which won't have the IR codes if they were learned while the service was in use.

Andy - I am using the service, which explains the use of the SageClient properties file. I haven't done anything intentional to stop using the service but that gives me something to look at next time I see the "disappearing codes" behavior. There could have been some type of issue that caused the service to not start or to be stopped. At least I now have a copy of the "learned codes" from the properties file so I have a better way to recover next time. Thanks for all your help!
