Before playing the recording, you could use the Watched command twice to set & then reset the watched status for the show; playback will then begin at the beginning.
During playback, you could use this command sequence to jump to the beginning: Time Scroll, REW2, Time Scroll. Or, if you don't have a button for Time Scroll, you could use REW2 to jump farther than REW to get to the beginning a little more quickly. - Andy
