How To for Divx Including mp3

Heya folks,

Ok let me start with a project or interest. I want to rip my DVD's to AVI (or anything that supported via the MVP SageTV Client). As mentioned in the past on this forum, using this or that tool to convert, so on it is possible. Now I've gotten everything down cept the re-encoding the audio to mp3.
Thus my question to one and all who've done this and have it working with the mediaMVP SageTV client, can you please provide your steps to take a DVD to whatever format that includes the steps to re-encode to mp3 so its playable on my mediaMVP SageTV client? Please? I've searched videohelp.com and found some awesome info, but so far no go. As well theirs been tons of great post here, but having to dig out what was posted actually works from a proposed idea that is not a known method, I am completely lost in the "start to finish" steps to do this.
Thus I ask. What are the steps (in detail please, I guess I am slow on this one) to take a DVD to something I can play using the mediaMVP SageTV client package?

Thank you in advanced,
RedR

Well then stop right there, since the MVP doesn't support AVI, only MPEG. What you want is MPEG2 + MPEG-Layer2 (mp2) audio.

And FWIW, I ran across an mp2 encoder the other day:
http://toolame.sourceforge.net/

See above, and for the MVP (or 350 for that matter) I believe you want mp2 not mp3 audio.

FYI I haven't tried before this second but here goes:
What you need:
DGIndex
BeSweet
BeSweetGUI
ImagoMPEG-Muxer

1) Get yourself a copy of the above.
2) Load up the VOBs you want to convert in DGIndex.
3) Figure out which audio you want and select it from the track #.
4) Select "Demux (AC3..." as the output method (Audio)
5) Leave video alone, you're not doing anything with it.
6) Select "Save Project and Demux Video"
7) Fire up the BeSweet GUI and select the MP2 as the output type
8) Click tooLame (if necessary) to change to mp2enc
9) Click AC3 to MP2
10) When done, open Imago, and load your m2v and mp2 files, and mux.

I hope that works, it seems to for the one thing I've done.

The new software for the MediaMVP supports server side real-time transcoding of Divx files. Is SageTV able to suppport this? I know other pvr software does this, if not, hopefully 3.0 since it will have direct support for the mvp.

nope, matt's plugin doesn't support transcoding and the only windows app that does (gbpvr) does a lousy job at it.

Well, gbpvr uses the software from hauupage to do it... Is it a gbpvr issue, or does this feature just not work very well even with the native software that comes with the mvp?

I think I know the answer, but hoping somebody can confirm before I track all of this down and do it...

By doing this, do you lose the use of the menus? I am thinking you do, but....

Yes, you will have to sacrifice menus to do what you want to do.
