Help with deinterlacing

I've done some searching and am still a bit lost. Theres a lot of posts regarding registry changes and codec for deinterlacing. I was wondering if someone could just give me a quick rundown of what to do as I cant seem to get a good deinterlaced mpg file. The video looks great while watching in Sage but if i try to play it with something else its all full of interlace artifacts.

I have the following:

Hauppauge 250
Elecard 3.0 encoder installed.
Ati / Cyberlink encoder installed.
Sage 2.2

thanks for any pointers, im trying to record some high 8 video from my camera and dont want the nasty interlace chop.

thanks!!

The MPG file will always contain interlaced video because the TV source is interlaced.

The deinterlacing always occurs on *playback* -- if your other media player has a problem deinterlacing, then there is a problem with the configuration of your other player, not with Sage
