WEIRD: hauppauge 45-button remote: fast forward doesn't work properly

hi!

weird:
i installed that "basic_irremote-ini_New_Remote" thing and everything is working, except the fast forward button when i'm watching video files from the "imported video files" in the media library.

ultra-weird:

1) the replay (skip backward) button works in the video library! but not the skip forward button...

2) when i try to skip forward, it shows the "status bar" (sorry, my english...) on the bottom where i can see that the video is, for example, on 00:14:07...but it doesn't skip forward. i can jump to the middle of the movie with my mouse...but not with my remote.

3) it works to fast forward when i watch live tv and hit pause and then i skip forward.

can anyone help me? would be cool!!!

thanks

simon

Like SHS said: double check the command assignment for that button on your remote. In addition to what he said, you can go to Detailed Setup -> Commands -> Show Command. Press the FF button. It should show that it is linked to the "Skip Fwd/Page Right" command. (Ctrl+F should be shown as well.)

If you try the keyboard command while playing the imported video & it doesn't work, but it works for regular recordings, then I would wonder what type of video was imported & whether there is an issue with its format and/or the decoder used to play it.

i checked all that, the commands are correct, must be the codec then.

it doesn't work with any the videos in the imported videos section, whether they are mpegs or divx or xvid.

i don't know what codec i have installed though...how do i check? i have xvid, divx, ac3filter, ffdshow, dscaler installed, but i don't know what the system "uses" to decode files...

as i said, it works to skip backward, and it works to skip forward when i pause live tv...

please help!

thanx

check what Sage thinks the duration of the video file is in the detailed info page for the file... If it is 0, then persuade Sage to rescan the file by renaming it or it's parent directory, and rescanning the video directory...

Sometimes Sage thinks files are 0-length, and this messes up ff/rew/

no. sage doesn't think the video files are 0 sized. it works to fast forward with my mouse, but not with the keyboard command or the remote command, but it works with the remote in live tv mode.

when i press ff, the status bar shows up in the bottom, but that's all it does, showing up...i can't fast forward.

this is a real pain.

would be so thankful if anyone got any ideas...

I've had the same (or very similar) problem ever since I upgraded to Sage v5.0.4 from v4, except that my skip forward button (the 120 second one) doesn't work ever, no matter what I'm watching. I've re-mapped the commands over and over again, tried different remotes - I have two PVR-250's and my brother has one. I've changed batteries, banged the remote on the wall - everything. No skipping forward.

So now I press fast forward (the 10 second one) about 30 times to get through a commercial break. I know I could change the seconds from 10 to something higher, but 10 seconds is a good number somtimes. I keep hoping that this will magically fix itself when an upgrade to v5.0.4 comes along.

Anythoughts?
