Lightbulb Any way to detect if SageTV is recording?

I'd like to schedule a semi-weekly reboot of my PC, but I can't think of a way to detect whether SageTV is recording at that time.

Any ideas?

It'd be nice if the Sage menus had a tuner status area, similar to the recording lights on a TiVo. Either red/green dots or a message box or something.

For the purpose of just stopping the service and rebooting, the easiest way would be to check for the existence of a text file like:

if not exist c:\Frey\SageTV\isrecording.txt
then net stop SageTV
call reboot.bat
else call reschedule.bat

I'm learing Python right now, so maybe this summer I can program something like this.

Apart from my status plugin showing whats currently recording, you may also want to check whether a recording will start within the next 5 mins or so... there is an properties option to write a txt file with the recording schedule, which you could then read and parse...

Yeah, I was thinking about that potential problem. A pseudo-safe way would be to schedule the reboot to happen at ##:15 or ##:45, since 99.9% of shows start on the hour or half-hour.
