picture quality in winTV2000 a lot better than in sagetv --> settings in sageTV?

i get a much better picture quality in winTV2000 (using my pvr 150) than in sageTV. i got pretty close to this quality in sagetv by using ffdshow as a decoder filter, using the deinterlacing feature in ffdshow.

my question is: how can i get the best possible quality in sage tv using a pvr-150?
what should i use as mpeg2 video decoder filter? (i have the options "default", "intervideo non css video decoder for hauppauge" and ffdshow mpeg-4 video decoder)
if one should use ffdshow, then with what settings?
or should i use an elecard mpeg-2 decoder?
what as video renderer?
what about dscaler?

i would be very glad if somebody could tell me what the best settings are for the "detailed setup" --> video.

thanks so much,

simon

There is another part of the equation & that is the recording quality: try bumping up the quality at Detailed Setup -> Multimedia -> Recording Quality.

i already got recording quality on "dvd standard play", on both wintv2000 and sagetv. i guess that's the best setting.

but still, picture quality is better in wintv2000.

Are you comparing LiveTV or recordings?

I believe with a 150 and WinTV with LiveTV you are seeing the Live preview feature of the card. With SageTV even LiveTV is recorded TV as it is buffering always.
