Recording Error - WAF dropped to zero

This evening my wife and i were watching (time lagged) her fav award show on dish network. Something bad happened and we missed about 15 minutes and she's lost faith in my htpc (and me).

Config - Sage 2.2.5 with Cayars 17
At the time of the error, Sage was correctly reporting 30G free space.

Story -
About 3 hours into the show, out of the blue, the UIRT started flashing continuously. Immediately, I switched the tv source to the direct feed from the dish network stb to find that the flashing UIRT was continuously tuning the stb. The poor stb got confused and stuck on some ppv channel.

I hid the UIRT (so it couldn't tune the stb) and manually tuned the stb back to the correct channel, then switched the tv back to the input from the htpc. To my horror the recording had stopped and the delete confirmation popup was on. The UIRT was still flashing like crazy.

We ended up watching the rest of the show live (and not talking much after that). I have no idea what happenned but would appreciate any help to fix the problem (and my shattered ego).

Can't help you with your problem but, damn... wife wouldn't talk to you because she missed 15 minutes of the awards show due to a glitch on the HTPC?!?! Now I know why I'm not married

Best of luck to ya!

Welcome to the world of DVR. Even my set top cable company box has glitches from time to time. Have to decide if the payoff is worth it.

Well....it was the Indian version of the Oscars and after three hours of wait, we missed best film, best actress and best actor....Just trying to justify her anger....not trying to justify marriage ;-)

Although peace has returned to my home, I'm scared to suggest timeshifting tonight's Oscars................

There is absolutely no doubt about the worth. But when someting like this happens, it takes while before you can start trusting machines again.

I was hoping someone else might have have a similar issue and would know about it.

Well, first of all, its always timeshifting. My system is pretty stable, but occasionally, say about once a week, I get a Sage freeze when fastforwarding. That's once a week, but the systems runs 24/7 with a Sage restarting taking 1 minute.

My wife accepts this because the overall uptime and flexibililty makes it a small price. Everytime an IR picks up a show you likes, or she has a Oprah and Dr. Phil(shrug) or those "In Search Ofs" she digs the system.

Just tell her "Hey, somethings things happen" and point out the advantages.

My wife loves the system.
