Dscaler+Elecard=slow when scrolling through guide
I've finally figured out a way to make livetv watcheable on my SDTV (I'm using ati HDTV adapter for component output @ 480i). VMR9 had poor video quality, overlay is my only option. My specific problem was stuttering when the camera pans, it's horrible watching a basketball game. The only thing that did a good job was Dscaler+Elecard, and it only uses about 40% cpu when watching full screen. dscaler settings: Greedy2Frame+double refresh.
BUT, when I go to the guide and I try to scroll, it's unbearably slow at times, every few inputs...cpu goes to 100%. Sometimes, clicking on the guide means I have to wait 5-10s for the guide to come up.....during this time, the video playing remains smooth. When I disable Dscaler, the guide, etc operates normally(but video 'stutter' comes back as usual). Am I missing something? Is it possible to disable deinterlacing and just pass the interlaced video to the tvout? or is this impossible with a computer? Can I disable DXVA? Is there any other settings I can try? changing decoders did nothing. the ati cards seem to have mention of hardware deinterlacing? how do I know it is being used? My system: athlon xp 2000, 512mb ram, ATI 8500LE 128mb fresh install of winxp sp2, sagetv 2.1, latest ATI catalyst drivers thanks for any help, Ben |

Thanks for the response:
I will try default video, I can't remeber if I've tried that yet. I've tried the 3d acc settings with no changes. as for my setup: My system: athlon xp 2000, 512mb ram, ATI 8500LE 128mb fresh install of winxp sp2, sagetv 2.1, latest ATI catalyst drivers, PVR150 with latest drivers and the downloadable trial version of elecard decoder. I've tried the windvd and sonic codecs and had deinterlacing problems. I'm going to try the hauppauge intervideo decoders and see if the registry settings that enable dxva, ect make any improvement. I'm a bit confused? Sage decoder? Do you mean Hauppauge? Or does sage have a decoder for mpeg2? would that be the default decoder?
My other option is dscaler in ffdshow; but I can't seem to get the dscaler deinterlacing plugin in ffdshow to work....when I enable ffdshow as decoder, sagetv just closes ; so somthing has gone awry. I know ffdshow worked once before, I don't know what changed. I had no idea deinterlacing was such a huge pain in the behind. thanks, Ben |

The Sage decoder is not in the 2.1 version. That is why you don't see it. You could DL the latest beta, but I'd try an get your current setup stable first. Sorry, I don't remember exactly which version of SageTV added the Sage decoders.
