Sharpness setting

In the tuner calibration, what is to upper limit for the sharpness setting? I noticed that since I have a digital cable input I can safely turn this up and it looks good. Just wondering where the limit is.

Thanks!

255, but it doesn't seem to do a whole lot.

Wheemer,

if you have a PVR250/350 have a look at the registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Globespan\Parameters\ivac15\Driver

as described here.

http://www.cask-of-amontillado.com/p...rove_Sharpness

Usually the value is defaulted to 2. I 've changed mine to 6 and it looks a lot better.

Yeah I had previously set that to the maximum of 7, however I thought that setting might be overidden by SageTV settings... It's somewhat of a mystery.

I thing we've seen the same thing, yes the setting does have an effect, but normally when you crank sharpness all the way up (like on a TV) it introduces horrible ringing, but this one doesn't seem to go that high. That was what I meant by doesn't do much.
