Controlling Cable box, USB-UIRT, hauppauge remote....
Hi,
I recently purchased a Hauppauge PVR 150 which comes with the IR Receiver and Blaster. After using the irremote.ini from another thread the remote works lovely with sage (silver remote). The only problem being Sage isnt working with my PVR-150 but I think thats being worked on by Hauppauge and Sage but anyway...I can't seem to use the ir blaster with my cable box as none of the codes for the ir blaster work, I have tried emailing Hauppauge support but they didn't even reply which is surprising (not even your standard autoreply) The cable box is a Pace Di4001NC (which i believe is IR not IRDa and with the right code should work). So currently I am borrowing a friends USB-UIRT, havent tried it yet but will be tonight. So my questions are:
Basically I would like to be able to use as much of the hauppauge kit as possible - seeing as I bought it mobby p.s. If anyone knows how to get the Hauppauge blaster to work with the Pace Di4001NC then I would be a very happy boy indeed Last edited by mobby; 02-02-2005 at 05:53 AM. |

1: Will the USB-UIRT be able to learn the Hauppauge remote?
Yes 2: Can I then plug the IR Blaster that came with the PVR-150 into the USB-UIRT? No 3: Will Sage be able to use the USB-UIRT directly or will I need to run Girder? Yes |

Yes it mean Sage will be able to use the USB-UIRT directly without Girder.

Ok so I tried the USB-UIRT and this is my story
Firstly tried the Out-Of-The-Box support for USB-UIRT and realised that it only recieved, didn't send (or have I got this wrong? ). So I then used Girder to learn the 0-9 and ChannelUp/Dn keys of my Hauppauge remote, and then mapped them to the equivalent for my Ntl box (Pace Di4001NC). I then mapped the hauppauge buttons to the sage events in girder (used an irremote.ini posted in another thread to give me the various remote functions and the keyboard key strokes they mapped to). So whilst using the hauppauge remote Girder would use the USB-UIRT for reciever and transmitter to do the following:
This sorta worked but I found whilst navigating sage instead of moving one step at a time it would jump a couple of times like you pressed the same button a number of times quickly or like you held it down (the same would happen when say trying to pause, sometimes it was very difficult to get it back out of pause). In previous attempts when using the Sage Hauppauge support the keys would work wonderfully. So I now have the current setup:
Sage now works great, no skipping, but channel changing is a little fiddly, often keys are missed or although emmitted not quite recieved but thats a USB-UIRT issue so I can play with that (btw if anyone has any tips then I would more than appreciate them ) So I suppose the question is...does this like a correct setup or am I working around a problem that I could really fix? Does anyone use the Hauppauge remote, USB-UIRT and Girder (not using the hauppauge remote software and reicever) with sage and have it working properly? If so any tips/guides? Well hope you havent fallen asleep reading this Thanks mobby |

I have no experience with the Hauppauge stuff. The UIRT has been flawless for me. -gary- |

Maybe rtfm works sometimes
You should feel lucky. I spent a lot of hours getting this set up 'back in the old days' |
