STV Request

Ok got this reply from support

I'm sorry there is no way to change the show id in Sage. You check out the
customization forums to see if any STV's have that ability. But I will
forward your request on to the developers.

they imply it might be possible for an STV to do what I want so I am hoping this is correct and hoping someone would be willing to make it for me (no public access to the studio :-(

what I want is this

Right now lets say I have a show called

Lets say $40 A Day Episode SanDiego Calif recorded on 2/1/2005 at 2300

right now the mpg file I get is

40aDaySanDiegoCalif-56127-0.mpg

what hauppauger would give me is

$40_a_Day_0201_2330.mpg

I want the latter.

altough I REALLY like it adding the name of the episode so I would really like a hybrid

40_a_Day_San_Diego_Calif_0201_2330.mpg

I do not really need the time (it is handy and I use it but its not super critical but it does allow me to sort multiple same show recordings in the same week day.

so 2 changes. first instead of deleting the spaces either PUT the spaces back or if there is a system reason this is not possible replace the spaces with UNDERSCORES instead of deleting them

Second add the the date at least monthday (0201)

this is really important. this is how I "sort" my programming when I burn it to dvd etc.. its really annoying not having the date since everything mixes together and I can not be sure to watch them in the order they aired

many shows I go weeks or months before I can watch them so I have 3-15 episoders to watch and I want to watch them in ORDER as some shows can not be watch pleasantly OUT of order :-(

to answer questions I do NOT watch from within sage. I watch my own way from other computers MVP's or most often my portable video player (which all play mpeg1 hence why I like sage as it does mpeg1 !! yipee !! :-)

in fact any time I am at this machine I move the mpeg's OUT of the sage folder into my own folder just to be sure it can not accidentally delete them :-)

I do not utilize sage's playback client watched like don;t like stuff for me its just a recorder and I want it to do just that really well and really reliably :-)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

if this can be added to thr stock otherwise unchanged stv that would be awesome !! (I tried some other stv and they are nice but make mysystem very unstable for some reason hence the want to stick as close to stock as possible :-)

I use Cayars STV, malore style for recordings, configured for "sort by Orig Air Date". Not the actual air date, the original airing date, so if catching up on some show's reruns works for that too regardless the actual date you recorded. Some shows we don't go just weeks, we record the entire season before watching. Works perfectly.

nono you misunderstand. I do NOT play back the file inside sage so that would not help me

I goto the recording folder and access the mpg's directly ! I need the date as PART of the actual "file name" so that when I copy them to dvd etc.. (as mpg's not as dvd video) and play them back in my pvp's etc.. I can "see" which is which.

You could use a script to get the timestamp of the files and rename them.
