Question PVR-350 Cooling Solution

Hey guys, sorry for another post on the pvr-350. I just selected Sage as my PVR solution so that I could use the output on the the 350 card. Well after having some lockup problems I checked these forums and discovered that there is a heat issue with the card. IMHO, I think the output on this card is superior to the output on regular video cards. What is the best cooling solution I can install for this card. I would prefer a nice quiet fan. Should I use some sort of pci slot cooler or is there some type of fan that I can mount to the heatsink on the card itself? I would appreciate any help or suggestions that you could offer. Thanks...

Hiya spyork,

One thing I would suggest looking at is directed air flow. You can get some xacto board from your local office supply, cut it to shape as needed to make an air duct. This can greatly help is improved cooling, and prevent recirculated air.
As to additional fans, I've been looking at one that fits in one of your expansion slot exits in the back of the PC, uses a standard 5.25 molex connector for power. The intake for the fan would sit in front of the component side of your PVR-350, again helping prevent 'dirty air'. From what I've found so far, you can reduce the over all air flow if you properly direct it to the area's needing it vs just blindly pushing air through the case. Check out this link, has some GREAT info on home brew air cooling ideas.

Enjoy,
