Major problems using external authoring programs (for exporting segments).

Hi.

I used SageTV for about a week and I tried to edit some of the captured VHS tapes with some programs that allow you to cut unwanted scenes without re-encoding the whole mpg.

I try to edit a 20gig lenght movie (encoded with Intervideo Hauppauge NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge / MPEG2 Max Quality / VMR9)

I tried many programs:

NanoPEG , coming with my PVR-350 Hauppauge.
VideoUndo
MPEG2Video.

all these programs I tried where unefficient. NanoPEG comes with Unnacurate results, all the cuts were done in wrong places.

With VideoUndo and MPEG2Video, all the outputs result with missing movie and unplayable in Windows Media Player. In VideoUndo, it record the first 30.02 mins and it stop there.

The only successful edits I have done are with NanoPEG if I cut 10mins before and after the segment I want, mix the new mpg and then re-edit the new output the way I want. But it doesn't work if I cut above 2 hours, the players start to freeze on playbacks.

Don't know what's the problem here. It very frustrating considering I wasted like 2 days trying to figure what's the source of the problem. I'm beginner when come's encoding things.

I deseperatly need some assistance, Thanks!

Videoredo is your best bet... The demo only allows 30 mins, but I think if you register for a trial key it works full length.

Sorry I meant VideoRedo. Not Undo. But the problem still persist.

After a retry, It doesn't play at all in WMP and I have to shut it down with the Task Manager. Like NanoPeg, the cuted output is incredibly outsync when I view it in VideoRedo; it start later and end sooner than the trimming I commanded.

Any Clue?

I'm thinking it might be a problem with the encoding... Have you ensured you are using the latest driver available from www.shspvr.com?

It seems weird that all these supposedly working editing programs have problems.

Yes I have these.

I just don't know why all the cuts I've made are out of sync with VideoRedo. Is there a way I can describe accurate symptoms to help me to find what is causing all this???

thx

I'm not exactly sure, but on videoredo's forum you can find help very easily. My cuts with videoredo are absolutely perfect. Wish I could offer more help.

Well I gave MPEG2VIDEO a serious try and it did the job very well. It handled the file from A to Z whatever I wanted to.

too bad the commands aren't like Videoredo.
