Post Windows MCE 2005 - a good OS ?

Does anyone here run MCE2005 and interact with the OS on a regular basis?

I wondering if there are any benefits over XP SP2 (which is extremely rock solid stable on my computer).

I've been using MCE 2005 for quite awhile on a few machines and see no differance in performance over my XP Pro sp2 systems. Since MCE 2005 is XP pro with the Media Center Add On, its nice to have that option to wiew movies, pictures, and music, and there are some cool plugins too.

I use Sage for all my TV purposes, and MCE for other stuff.

Yeah, I like it too. I use it only for High Def viewing of TV. Sage I switch to for everything else

MCE is just XP Pro with Domain joining removed and the MCE app added.

It is a great OS.

The only disadvantage is it is OEM only.

Anyone can purchase MCE2005 from newegg.com, pcalchemy.com and various other vendors on the Internet.

"*With the purchase of qualifying hardware" is pretty much what I'm used to seeing.

I guess it does not matter so much with online vendors.

A fan, molex plug, etc usually suffices for "Qualifying hardware"
