Question HELP with Jerrold Analog cable box & Actisys

I have an old Jerrold analog cable box and i cannot get Actisys ir-200l to learn codes . Sage has no issue finding Actisys on com1. Do i need to purchase usb-uirt or myblaster? Has anybody had luck with any of the three?
Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't need a cable box for regular cable these days contact your cable operator.

You are correct, except that i cannot get any of my movie channels without the cable box. Are there any alternatives other then changing box or totally bypassing the box?

When you say you can't get the Actisys to learn codes are you at the stage where it wants you to press the '0' button on your remote and it won't move past that screen?

I also have an old Jerrold cable box (sorry I don't know its model number but it has the controls on the top). I control it with a USB-UIRT. It does use strange codes however; in Pronto format all learned IR codes should start with 0000, these start with 0100.

The .ir file for the box is:
OldStarhubUSBUIRT 37616 411 2 400 800
RepeatCount 3

I don't know what you have to do to translate it across to the actisys but I hope that this helps. AFAIK a current USB UIRT will control just about anything, mine had to have its firmware upgraded to deal with the Jerrold box. Also I couldn't learn these codes within Sage. I used the USB-UIRTs Irnhelper program and created the file manually.

Cheers
Eric

Well the reason I asked about being stuck on the zero of learning for an STB is there are issues with running Sage as a service and trying to learn STB codes with the USBUIRT. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the Actisys but it is worth looking at this thread:
http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...ead.php?t=9727
and be sure to read post 3 in that thread if this problem applies to you.

Thanks Guys! Just for some background...I was trying to configure actisys through sage and it would not get passed the point where it asks to hold down a button on the remote. I left it for about 8 hrs with a button press and it did not work.
I will try the above mentioned when i get home tonite. Ill let you know how it works out.

Unfortunetly ToxMox method didnt help. Is there any way to add the above code for Actisys or should i just concede to the fact that i will have to purchase a usb-uirt?
