favorite priorities

I finally solved a problem with favorite priorities that was driving me nuts and thought I would post it here in case it could help anyone. Forgive me if this has been covered before . . . I didn't find it in a search but wasn't really sure what search terms to use.

I have been trying to record The Daily Show at 11pm (channel and time set in favorites) and had it set as about my fourth priority. It wasn't recording at all and the show it was taping at 11 was about my 30th priority (but was set to tape anytime). No luck deleting and re-adding favorite or messing w/ settings and no conflicts were showing up.

Finally, I figured out that Seinfeld reruns (although prioritized in the mid-20's) were running from 10:35 to 11:05 and were conflicting w/ the Daily Show. It seems that the 5 minute overlap at the end of a lower-priority favorite was trumping my higher priority show without noting a conflict. I finally chose a specific channel for Seinfeld reruns to eliminate the 10:35 timeslot and all is well.

For a while, I thought this was a Daily Show-specific problem and that Frey Developers were relatives of Tucker Carlson or Robert Novak.

The 11pm Daily Show episode gets aired multiple times, so it should have been picking it up during one of its other airings. Favs are automatically scheduled to try to catch as many as possible while minimizing conflicts, even if the higher priority one is recorded later so that a lower priority Fav can get recorded at all.

The problem is that I was specifying the 11pm timeslot for Daily Show so it was not scheduling any of the rebroadcasts. Before I specified a timeslot, it was picking up the next broadcast or one the following day . . . but staying up later or watching the next day were not satisfying my Daily Show jones.

Oops -- right: I missed the "time set in favorites" part.

There were no conflicts at all mentioned in Schedule Recordings -> Recording Conflicts? There should have been something listed regarding the Daily Show being skipped. You might not have had a conflict icon showing up on the menu header if at some point in the past SageTV was told that one of the other favs was to always record instead of the Daily Show; however, the conflict should still be listed on the screen I just mentioned. Something isn't right if a conflict isn't listed at all.
