quick newb question about sage
i was wondering what the requirements are in order to allow sage to record the scheduled show, do i actually have to have sage open and running, or not open at all because it has a background program running, or just have it open in the system tray
Thanks |

There are two ways to run sage... service mode and "non-service" mode (I don't know if there's a specific name for that...)
In w2k or XP you can run service mode... sage runs as a service in the background to handle scheduling and recording. So the frontend window doesn't need to be open... the service just needs to be running and it will record. When not using the service mode, you have to have the sagetv.exe executable running... either in a window/fullscreen or in the system tray. |

mpegripper: davin has it correct, but as a new user, you may want to check out the SageTV Quick Start Guide, starting on page 22 of the v2.1 manual, found in your SageTV dir. This is one of the first topics mentioned there.
