Universal Remote & Actisys 200L ?

Basically I would like to know if it’s possible to use a universal remote to operate SageTV instead of the Hauppauge remote. The buttons are so small and hard to identify. I would like to use the TV remote. I’ve only seen a few threads regarding this and none seems to be clear to me. I’ve downloaded the Sage plugin for girder but the Actisys 200L doesn’t seem directly supported by girder. My sat receiver is controlled by the Actisys and at first I thought that all I’d have to do is link an ir command under the detailed setup options to be able to control sage but it doesn’t seem to detect any ir signal, even thought the Actisys is in direct line of sight to the remote. I need some help understanding how to set this up. Thanks

Isn't the Actisys an IR transmitter only, or is it also a receiver?

You can't use the Actisys as an IR receiver. You'd need something like the IRMan or the USB-UIRT (supported as a receiver in the next build). Or if you have a learning remote, you can use the IR receiver from the Hauppauge card and teach the buttons to the learning remote control.

I've tried to teach the learning remote the Hauppauge remote commands however the learning remote doesn’t recognize the ir signals. I’ve tried 2 different remotes. Some commands cannot be programmed. I'll just get a IRMan. Thanks

Ok now I'm confused. I'm having the same problem. I can't get the SagetV to learn any commands. The IRman and Actsys is working for the Dish sat. I can't get it to learn any commands.

What happens when you go to Detailed Setup > Commands and try to Link a command? Also, do you have the IRMan setup under Detailed Setup > IR Hardware?

I was looking again at the Actisys info and it is capable of both sending and recieving ir signals. It is used for data transffer. How is it that it cann't be used to receive remote signals. I thought that all you needed was to cover a specific frequency range for it to be able to work. But i might not understand this correctly.

When I click on link command to remote, the window pops up that reads "Point the remote at the receiver and push the button you want to link to that command." I have tried a couple different remotes and none are accepted.

The IRman is chosen in the IR hardware setup. I know the IRman works with Girder because I use it for Theatertek.

Sometimes the Actisys is picky and you need to try different "tapping" or "hold" motions to get the IR-200L to recognize the code. SHS is referring to the "double-tap" method.
