350 OSD notcoming up after return from standby (Repost)
<<Thought I'd re-post this since I didn't get any takers the first time...>>
Greetings! I have my PVR running pretty well these days, after about a month of heavy use. I'm using Sage 2.1 and the PVR-350 card with the OSD into my SDTV. I have the last 350 drivers (the 22292 version, released 10/18/2004). I am also using the power management functions to wake up Sage for recordings and then go into standy when finished (thanks to Stanger and g808). My problem comes when the computer returns from standby. Sage wakes up fine, and the Main Menu comes up in my computer monitor, but the OSD on the TV does not appear - it's just a blank screen. If I choose to watch a recording, it works fine, the video appears on the TV, and all the FF/REW commands work, but the little progress bar does not appear on the TV, only on the monitor. I'm guessing these two are related. Minimizing Sage or putting it to sleep does not bring the OSD back. The only thing that will bring the OSD back is to exit Sage completely and then open it back up. Can anyone offer a suggestion as to how to get the OSD to appear after returning from standby? Thanks in advance. |

From my understanding of it, the card just is not that stable coming back from standby. The fix, don't go into standby.

I submitted this to Sage tech support and their response is shown below. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, and I'm hesitant to do so since things are running pretty well right now. If I'm feeling lucky I might give it a shot, and if I do I'll post any results.
______________________________________________________________ Jeffrey, This was fixed in one of the betas. Try the newest beta and see how that goes for you. To safely install the beta and have the ability to revert back if you like, follow these steps. Make a backup of your Sage.properties and Wiz.bin files or you can just copy the entire Frey Technologies folder to a safe location. Download and install the current beta. http://www.sage.tv/beta.html If you would like to revert, you can then uninstall SageTV and delete the Frey Technologies folder. Reinstall the previous version you were using and copy over the Sage.properties and Wiz.bin files over to their respective locations. Bug reports should be submitted here. http://www.sage.tv/bugs.html Thanks, George Oms Frey Technologies, LLC support@freytechnologies.com http://www.sage.tv/ _________________________________________________________________ |

The beta's are good, I prefer them to the 2.1 release because they're more stable.
Go for it. |

Wow! Despite the above thread, I am STILL having this problem, almost 3 years after I initially discovered it. I've had a lot of issues with my PC (mainly the motherboard), but I finally figured out what the problems were (sata controller and flaky power supply), so I haven't really been using the power management functions again until recently. A search if the forums produced this same thread!!
I'm skeptical that any of the recent betas have fixed this problem. I'd really like to use the power management features, but there seems to be no solution for this issue. Is this a 350 problem or a Sage problem, or a little of both?
