After SageTV is closed, won't start back up

I just upgraded to version 2.1. Now when I close SageTV, I can't restart it again without rebooting the PC. How can I start SageTV after closing the program without having to restart?

Thanks.

Robert

Just a thought but I find with each upgrade that the previous version shortcuts will not start the application (the shortcut also loses the Sage icon image). I keep one in the taskbar but have to replace it with each upgrade myself. Ofcourse, you can create your own shortcuts. The ones (shortcuts) Sage installs are not editable and are version dependent.

After the shortcut wouldn't work, I went straight to the Frey directory and tried to launch the SageTv.exe file. Wouldn't start either. It seems like it is acting like it is already running, though it isn't. But it isn't listed in my TaskMgr. Not sure why I have to reboot to get it to start after closing it.

Robert:

By chance do you use COMSKIP; I have seen this behaviour before with my setup; you can look in Task Manager to see if that exe is active; just a thought..

Yes, I am using ComSkip. It has been running for 2 days now. Just installed the STV yesterday and it has been going through all of my files. Could this be the problem?

Good point, if comskip running on given machine and you exit Sage (including Client), will not load until comskip done processing on that machine or you kill the comskip process. This is normal for comskip and Sage behavior.

As an added note, the reason I need this to work is I have edited my irremote.ini file. I programed the blue button on my remote to shut down SageTv and then restart it. Every now and then I start having videos lock up. REstarting SageTV fixes the problem. But since I don't have a keyboard or mouse hooked to the PC, it forced me to do a complete reboot. By reprogramming the blue button, I can easily shut down SageTV and restart it without having to get off of the couch. It has been a real time saver. If ComSkip is the problem, I guess I am out off luck on restarting SageTV. Too bad ComSkip doesn't close with SageTV. Maybe I can make that suggestion to the creator.

Thanks.

You might want to look at one of the other methods for running comskip posted here. A couple members have posted scripts/apps/methods that process files without relying on Sage.
