Lag on Remote Commands

I've been running SageTv for about 6 months now. I keep the box pretty clean of extraneous processes and such, and it's been running fine. I just added an additional 250 GB hard drive (7200 rpm). Now I often get huge lags whenever I use the remote to execute a command. For example, it takes 6-10 seconds for a FF/RW command to execute, and almost a minute for a 'Stop' command. Any ideas? Thanks.

Specs:
P4 1.4 Ghz
256 RAM
40 GB, 160 GB, 250 GB Hard Drives.
3 Hauppauge PVR-250s
Radeon 9600 Pro - S-Video to TV

One thing causing something like that in the past was when Norton AntiVirus was scanning the videos as they were played. If you have NAV, try disabling its autoscan setting for all the Video Directories & perhaps the SageTV dir too.

I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same drive upgrade. My problem was, the added drive had upped my power supply output to the point where it was interfering with the USB-UIRT.

I solved it by putting the USB-UIRT on a USB hub powered from wall current instead of the computer. Worked like a charm.

Hope this helps.
