TO THE SAGE GUYS....
TO THE FREY GUYS:
PLEASE, for the love of GOD, put something in Sage that says "if I can't find the server after a couple of trys.... wait for xx amount of hours to try again." I'm looking at the log file and this thing is trying to phone home every 1 minute. When it can't find the server, it generates about 50 lines in the log file full of something that has to do with program data. It also causes SageTV.exe to use about 97% of CPU usage for about 45 seconds. In that 45 seconds, all life on Sage grinds to a crawl.... video stutters on playback, or menus will not respond. Just by coincidence, this phone home failuer happened right at the end of watching a live show (when Sage is switching files) and it locked sage up for 7 minutes -- the last frame of video was frozen on the screen and Sage (or Windows) would not respond to anything. Becuase of all the problems, I actually started a stopwatch. A little over 7 minutes later, Sage came back to normal acting like nothing every happend. To its credit, it was recording the two shows just fine and dandy but you couldn't touch Sage for that entire time. Stacy |

So that's why my Sage machine locks up for seven minutes every day around noon. I've never been able to check the task manager to see what is causing the high load. IIRC, my last epg update was noon so that is probably the cause.
Thanks, you just saved me from a reinstall

When you say "phone home" are saying it's trying to connect via your high speed net connection or via a normal dialup connection? If dialup you should be able to turn off automatic dialing temporarily.
