No visible DVD menu item selector

Sage 2.1, nVidia decoders using the NV post processor from TT 2.0.6. When playing a DVD in Sage, when at the DVD menu, there is no visible item selector. I can hit the arror keys on my Hauppauge remote to "chance it" on a selection I want... So why isn't the selector showing? I'm also using the Cayars16 STV. Also, I'm using VMR9.

This is a function of the DVD itself. Try it with a different DVD and I bet you'll see something different.

Thanks for the help but it's def-in-it-ly (SP?) a Sage thing. For instance, I played "Saving Private Ryan" a little while ago (before I had to fdisk, format, and re-install everything) and it worked fine. Now, after the re-install the selector is not working.

Sage 2.1 (paid for and downloaded from PCAlchemy. Lost a HDD, re-downloaded from the link on the Sage site and applied my CD key.)
TheaterTek 2.0.6 using the NV decoders (VPP)
nV 6800 with drivers: 66.93 & 71.20

Problem is still there

Just wanted to re-surface this issue since I still have it.

I had this issue for several months as well, but somewhere along the line it recently went away and I now have selector icons in my DVD's again. I'm using the latest Nvidia decoder, Nvidia video drivers (6600GT) and SageTB 2.2.4 Beta (haven't upgraded to 2.2.5 yet).

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly but it sounds like you are saying you are using TheaterTek to play DVDs?
If so then it is a TheaterTek or decoder issue.

I do have TheaterTek but I use the SageTV "Play DVD" to play my DVDs (backed up and on DVD media). I like using only one program to do it all. If I use TheaterTek then the controls are different and the UI is different...I like it all to be the same.

Can you tell us exactly what all your settings in the Detailed Setup - DVD section are in Sage?

Yeah but it'll have to wait till I get home - about 7 more hours. My wife is already frustrated enough with this HTPC stuff and if I ask her for anything related to that she'd shoot me.

thanks for your help.

If you are running in VMR9 mode switch to overlay and see if it works...

Here are my DVD settings:

DVD-ROM Drive: Yes
DVD Video Renderer: VMR9
DVD Video Decoder File: NVIDIA Video Post Processor
DXVA DVD MPEG Mode: Default
DXVA DVD Deinterlacing: Default
DVD Audio Decoder Filter: MPEG Audio Decoder
Audio Renderer: DirectSound: SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [B800]
Skip DVD Menus: Disabled
Aspect Ratio Mode: Source

nVidia DVD Decoders: nvviddec.ax 4.0.67.0
nVidia Video Card: GeForce 6800 (std)
nVidia Video Card drivers: 6.14.10.7125

If I use TT, I do get the DVD menu selector/highlight.

edbmdave: I changed to overlay mode within Sage and within the nVidia decoder properties window but still a no-go.

Another odd thing is that if I use the mouse to click on the menu selection nothing happens except the a Sage window in the top left corner that says:

DVD-ROM Title Menu
Audio:
Subtitles:
Angle 1/1

My default NvDVD decoder settings are:
Display Type: Content default
Hardware Acceleration: Yes
De-Interlace Control: Smart
TV Overscan Correction: 0
Bitrate: moves from 2 to 6
Video Format: Full Frame Video
Decoder Format: Software Mode UYVY, NVIDIA Video Post Processor
De-Interlace Mode: Combine Fields
Enhanced nView support: Prefer VMR9 (tried Overlay)

What happens if you switch from the Nvidia Post Processor to the Nvidia Video Decoder?
Oh and do you have the same problem if you use the OriginalV2 stv?
