Stop Recording LiveTV From Client
My sister is watching a recorded show on the HTPC while I'm trying to watch a different recorded show over the wireless network using Sage TV Client. My feed is a little choppy, but it isn't when my sister stops watching her show. I have a feeling that my HTPC's hard drive is getting overworked trying to read two shows simultaneously while recording a third show.
What do all of you think? Anyways, the problem is that I don't seem to be able to use the Client to stop the HTPC from recording LiveTV. Everytime I go to the LiveTV feed in my Client software and click Close File now, it seems to keep recording. How can I use the Client to stop the HTPC from recording? |

I have up to 7 (have see 5 many times) shows recording and up to 3 displaying at the same time. Although I am a wired gb network. Point being, I dont think that the HD is the problem. But heres some variables I can think of:
Slow processor? If shes watching on the server itself, this will probably be it. The HD is very old and has a small buffer/5400 rpm. Check your IRQ of the NIC card. Does it share with your capture sound or video card? Not enough memory? wireless is just plain problematic. Have you tried wired to see if same results? I dumped my wireless like a hot rock long ago. You should consider having a low horsepower server(that hosts all the cards) that you do not use GUI for. You will run much more stable. The cards need very minimal cpu and resources. The Video display is what needs the extra resources. Just some thoughts... I. Quote:

The hard drive could be the bottleneck if the partition used for recordings is using a small cluster size; it is recommended that you use a 64K cluster size for recording partitions.
If the client is the only one watching that live TV show, then it should stop recording when you close the file or put the client to sleep. If that doesn't happen, then the show could be in use elsewhere or it is a scheduled recording -- Manual Recording, Favorite, or IR. - Andy
