AC3Filter 1.01a
Hey,
I just set up AC3Filter in sage. I got it up and running no problem. I'm getting sound out of my center channel now which was my intent. . . The only problem is that the audio is clipping out. This is happening at regular volumes. Does anyone have any experience with this? Had a similar issue? Any info would be greatly appreciated, even advice on some good reading material. My system is as follows: Sage 2.1 w/ Cayars STV Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe Motherboard (nForce 2 w/ nVidia 4.27 drivers) AMD Athlon 2600+ (Barton Core) 512mb Kingston Memory PVR-250 ATI Radeon 9200 One more thing. . . Why does the sourcefoorge project page list AC3Filter 0.70 when the newest version, and the version that actually worked for me, is 1.01a? Thanks, Chris Last edited by soulprops77; 01-14-2005 at 09:20 AM. |

How are your speakers hooked up to your sound output?

I have the S/PDIF running from the mobo to a DD/DTS integrated amp.
The amp is correctly detecting DD 3/2. |

Wacky. I'm not running AC3Filter, but I have nearly the same setup as you (nForce Soundstorm audio out to a receiver through spdif) and my center channel's fine. Weird.

Weird. . . What version of the nForce audio driver are you running?
The older version of the driver has a "Create Center Channel" option, but it doesn't sound very good to me and I'm not sure that it doesn't interfere with DD audio from DVDs. Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing here. . . You're getting audio out of your center channel while watching TV in sage without AC3Filter or the "Create Center Channel" option checked in the NVMixer app? I get great 5.1 sound off of DVDs. . . It's just when watching TV (pardon me if I'm my terminology isn't quite right) the onboard audio isn't upmixing the stereo from my PVR-250 to include a center channel. There is audio from the rear. Ideally I would like to be able to get my amp to go into pro-logic mode when watching TV and DD 3/2 for DVDs, but this seems impossible since the mobo is encoding everything out of the S/PDIF as DD. AC3Filter seems achieves the same end result, but with that infernal clipping of the audio. . . |

Just checked again, and you're right -- I don't get center channel for TV. I thought you were talking about when you were supposed to be getting 5.1, but now I understand you're talking about upmixing. My amp says it's receiving 5.1, but there's no sound coming from the center channel.

I thought you might be on to something there. You might try AC3Filter as well if you care about the center channel. I'm gonna keep futzing with the settings and see if I can get rid of that clipping.

Hey, do you guys play DVDs thru sage's player? If so, are you getting digital 5.1 sound from it?
I got ac3filter to solve that problem for me, but my receiver just isn't getting a digital signal... |
