Hauppauge PVR350 - no TV out with SageTV

If I use the Hauppauge TV viewer app, the tv out on my 350 eorks fine (with the exception of my other problem).

However with SageTV I don't get it to work.
I went into the detailed setup and enabled the 350 tv out.
With the following results:
- sound is coming from the 350 out connector
- only test color stripes from the video

Some update:
If I start the Hauppauge tv app first (and close) then the tv out will work with SageTV. And yes I have the latest drivers (no betas).
Is there a better workaround?

How can I enable the OSD on the TV out?

All this is a known issue. Hauppauge is well known for it's lack of support fot third party vendors. Jeff is working on intializing the PVR350 output natively from SageTv. He is also aware of the OSD issue, but this is a very complex situation and there are many different possible approaches. None really meet all a users needs, so there has been alot of debate over how to do it.

Still I love this software and Jeff is an excellent/fast programmer. There should be a new round of betas out soon and maybe some of your concerns will be adressed in these. Trust me Jeff never seems to stop improving this program, and he is very responsive to user requests where ever possible.

PS:I'm just another happy user. I'm not a Frey employee and none of my statements should be taken as law.

I can understand about the card initialization. Big Bummer that Hauppauge is so tight lipped about their driver's. I've had a PVR250(I use my Videocard's SVHS out) for over 9 monthes and in that time it seems like Hauppauge has spent less and less time on software and more on drivers. This makes sense in a way since so few actually use the WinTV app. There are something like no less than 6 or 7 third party apps for the 250/350. It seems like Hauppauge has decided to let third party programmers do the work on software. Heck, what kills me is the fact that they list and actually link to SageTV on the pvr250/350 site. I love that they do it, but they are almost admitting they are giving software development over to 3rd parties.

You probably already know about SHS's site and his forum as well. There are alot of great user created apps there. Please post there or here if you find a third party app that can initialize the 350's TV out, without running WinTV first. You would be a hero to alot of people here and there.
