Same license on 2 PC's?

I thought I read somewhere that I can install Sage on 2 PC's with the same license. Is this true?

I'd like to keep Sage 2.0 running on my main HTPC since it is very stable and working great. I'd like to install the latest beta version on another PC for testing. I understand that to run the beta software I need to be running a licensed version of Sage. Can I do this?

License is per PC. You can install on two PCs but they won't work together. For instance if you have Sage running on one PC as a Server, and have a single Client license installed on two PCs, the 1st to connect to Sage Server will work. If you attempt to connect with the 2nd Client PC you'll get an error. Now if you close the 1st Client and again attempt to connect with the 2nd Client using same Client license it still won't work until you reboot the Sage Server. (or maybe just restart Sage)

As long as the two PCs don't see each other on the Network you should be fine.

I would also like to do something like this.

Is it ok to have a "development" box.

Cause I would like to test out new STVs and other stuff before putting it in the living room. The wife gets a little tweaked when I put Sage out of commision for a few days

Wait til something happens to the wiz.bin and ALL recordings end up in Imported media with only the file name... and all of the IR history is gone...

What does this exactly mean? I don't use Sage clients. I just want to do what m1abrams stated. Keep my current installation on my living room PC since it's stable, and run another installation on my development/test PC. I just want to be sure they'll function fine independently while using the same license.

Other software (shall remain namless ) will only allow one functioning installation per license.

It means exactly what it says. Don't see each other on the network. BTW, all you have to do to determine for yourself if you CAN install SageTV (not Client) on a 2nd PC is just do it! The Sage software installer itself couldn't care less what PC it's going to. It's not going out and searching the Internet etc. for a license conflict. I may be wrong, but I don't think so.

I think he is asking about the legalities of installing the same license on 2 machines. I don't think it is within the license agreement to do this but I could be wrong.

The last time I read the license, which is in the SageTV directory as either EULA.txt for SageTV or EULAclient.txt for SageTVClient, it essentially stated that it could be installed on only 1 computer for each license purchased. So, I believe that would be the answer from the "legality" point of view.
