ActiSys Remote

Hi,

I have been playing with the ActiSys remote controller that I received from Frey. Well the problem is I can't seem to get the ActiSys to change the channel of my cable box. At first I thought it was the cable decoder as I have had problems with my Tivo and the cable decoder, however I have been playing today and I decided to use my laptop and IRMan interface to see if what is coming out of Sage is what I put into it, short answer is no for the cable box, I have tried to see if I can work out how the remote file is written so I can edit it by hand, but the info in the file does not match in anyway what IRMan is displaying. That's problem one. The next problem is that I decided to program the Tivo remote codes into sage, to see if sage could use Tivo to change the cable box, well the remote codes are correct, but it does not seem to change the tivo either. Are there any setting's I need to change in Sage, device drivers or the Motherboard? Other then that has anyone come across this problem before?

Thanks.

Ok, well I not sure why I can not get the following devices to work with the ActiSys channel changer (Via Sage) :

Tivo - Correct codes, but Tivo may send an Ack code to the remote
Sony SSV880 (DVD Player) - Always learns wrong codes.
Pace 4000 Cable decoder - Possible just the remote signal it uses I have had problems with this and Tivo in the past.

However, I have programmed Tivo to change the channel on my TV and it works every time, so I've order Sky TV and I am going to get a Panasonic receiver, so this should resolved the incompatibility.

Do you mean that the Tivo remote may be recieving an acknoledge signal from the Tivo? This is the logical meaning of Ack, but I thought I would ask. I plan to use my Powermid(RF) IR extenders to move my Tivo up stairs. This may not work if the the remote is recieving a confirm code, since I believe the Powermid's transmissions are unidirectional.

Edit: On farther thought this should not be a issue. Since my universal remote(Sony RM-AV2100) was able to learn(IR learning not preprogrammed list) my Tivo remote codes and then control my Tivo without problems.

Best of luck

I'm confused by your statement, are you trying to use the Actisys to receive commands or send commands to your cable box? To program the Actisys to send commands to your cable/sat box you need to program it during the Setup Wizard with the remote that came with your cable/sat box. I saw you mentioning the IRMan and the TiVo remote which has nothing to do with using the IR-200L to change the channels.

Does this help, or did I miss that you stated you already tried this way?

Hi Ron, I'm wondering if HE Remote has been able to get your ActiSys to learn the commands for your Sony SSV880 (DVD Player) and other devices? If you've tried please let me know.

Hi Dan, I have tried to set-up the Tivo or my cable decoder or my sony dvd remote via the wizard, each time I program it I use the IRMan to see what signal codes Sage send out by useing the test button. The Tivo signal and the Sage signal match (When tested using IRMan) however the channel does not change, the other remotes do not seem to match what sage is sending out when programed to do so using the set-up wizard and sage reset before each test. IRMan is used on a laptop completly seperatly from sage to test the signal output only, and I am testing with other devices to verify the actisys does work, as I said I do not beleave the ActiSys can be used with me cable decoder as I think it may use Computer IR rather then TV IR.

Bob,

I'm sorry I have not been able to get ActiSys (Via Sage) to control the SSV880 I was merly using that as a test subject.

Ron.

Okay Ron, HE Remote is just some software for controlling IR Transmitters like the ActiSys 200L. It's completely unrelated to Sage. I just thought while you were experimenting you might have tried it.
