Video hanging up

I recently added a prv150 to my prv250 and for the most part it works well but It will frequently hang up while watching shows, after a few seconds it will continue. It didn't happen before adding the pvr150.
I have a P4 1700 512mb 160GB7200rpm, ATI vid card (dont remember the model, a couple years old)
Software setup, Intervideo non css, long play dvd quality, did the hpp 250 registry tweak (dont know if that interferes with the pvr150). Using Cayars stv.
Is it that my cpu isn't able to keep up or my hard drive isn't fast enough to record two shows at once? My HDD light stays on for while it hangs up.

Thanks
Mike

Not sure this is it, but what size clusters does your hard drive use on the partition where the recordings are saved/played? 64k clusters are recommended. If the cluster size is still 4k, then your drive very often can't keep up, as it won't be able to seek fast enough for all the writing/reading required.

It's highly likely that your single HD can't keep with with two recordings & playing back at the same time. My Server running 7 SATA 7200rpm HD RAID5, faster reads and writes than a single drive. If I have the RAID controller write cache policy off it'll keep up with 2 record with playback, but when a 3rd record playback will intermittent hesitate. With the 9500S controllers 256MB write back cache enabled I can record 5 DVD Std Qual and playback smoothly.
