Failed to initialize infrared Remote Hardware
I just installed my PVR-500 MCE into my Sage server and am now getting the following error when the ir software attempts to launch: Failed to initialize infrared Remote Hardware
Here's my setup: AMD 1ghz Athlon nForce II chipset 512mb ram PVR-250 PVR-350 PVR-500MCE I've already tried the registry hack mentioned here: http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showpos...1&postcount=28 Any ideas on how I can get the remote to default to my pvr-350 since the pvr-500MCE doesn't have any IR hardware?

That is one of the current problems that has been brought up within the past month or so -- Hauppauge's IR software can't tell the difference between a 150, 250, 350, or 500, so if there is an MCE version (has no remote) in the mix, it is possible that the IR driver will choose to use a tuner that has no IR port and will then fail. The registry 'fix' won't work because it has to be able to distinguish between the boards for that to work. The only thing that _might_ work would be to try switching the cards' PCI slots in an attempt to get the IR driver to find a card with the IR port, but I don't know if anyone has gotten back to say that they were successful doing this.

Yup, had read some of the other posts over on SHS's forums and thus had tried that idea to no avail. I think I'm gonna try the "Peek-a-Boo" method to see if I can get the remote working. Essentially one of the posters mentioned that they would disable the PVR-500MCE and then start the IR software, and then re-enable the PVR-500MCE.

I have a similar setup. a 350 and a 500MCE (just acquired it). when i installed the 500 today, ir.exe went belly-up. I wish I'd seen this thread sooner; I might have reconsidered.
Has anything been resolved on this issue or am I stuck w/ a usb Ir device?
