Sage TV - Girder Control for RCA DirecTV Receiver

I am very close to having this this setup working. Just need some help getting to the finish line.


I have Sage TV working on an Hauppauge DVR 250, using S-Video to receive Signal from an RCA DirecTV receiver.


I have loaded Girder, and the RCA DirectTV DSS control file with the Generic Serial Plugin. I can manually change channels on my RCA receiver bu running the "event.exe 230 (Channel #) -silent" command.

I have loaded the EXETuner Plugin, and have run the Girder Registry entry. When I set up my Source in Sage TV, I told it to use the EXE Tuner Plugin. But when I am watching live TV, and I go to the guide and click on another channel the Information bar changes to the new channel, but the Receiver never changes channels.

What am I missing? This is so close, I am getting excited, but I am stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I sent an e-mail to the support guys, and got a very quick response which fixed my problem. See the Response and the fix below. This is very cool, the recording quality is awesome.




That was the trick. When I installed Girder, it’s default Location was in \Program Files\Girder32\event.exe

The Registry Entry from set the Registry Key to \Program Files\Girder\event.exe

Check in your registry to see if the setting in:

HKLM\Software\Sage\EXETunerPlugin\command

looks correct. If you've installed Girder somewhere else, then change it to match that. If that doesn't work, then try changing that registry setting to be:
notepad.exe %CHANNEL%

It should then launch notepad when you change the channel, that's a good debugging step.
