Here's an interesting new PVR

http://www.2wire.com/?p=11

It also does SDTV, DVD, IPTV, HDTV, and many different types of music.

At the bottom of the screen, I read something indicating that they sell their products exclusively through DSL providers...

Which means they will undoubtedly charge big bucks in the form of a monthly fee and movie rentals...

Whoa. That thing looks pretty awesome.

I wonder how long before Sage will have to make some serious changes in order to stay competitive.

Odd they called it MediaPortal, same name as the free opensource PVR software: http://mediaportal.sourceforge.net/index.html

But yeah, it looks like something bundled with content providers, not directly for the consumer.

And that "huge" 250GB HD with no redundancy or backup plan didn't impress me in the least. Now, if it'll connect to networked storage it could be something.

Isn't this what Frey is trying to get by making the Linux version available for OEMs? I hope that they get an OEM to make something like this.
