Color Problems! Black too dark, white too bright!
Well, I thought I had the colors going well, but apparently I don't
If it is a dark scene, the dark is too dark and I cant see anything (I can switch between sage and normal tv tuner quickly), but in the regular TV I can see parts. An example is that I was watching a movie with Chris Tucker. In the scene it was night time out and he was sneaking around a stadium with a gun. In the HTPC, it was real dark and I couldn't make out all of his face. But in the regular TV, it wasnt as dark and I can make out most of his face like it should be. And the white is too bright and really stands out if it is a bright scene. I am using a PVR-250 as well with Nvidia codecs |

Have you looked into Setup -> Setup Wizard -> select tuner -> Color Calibration?
Stanger89 added info about this to the wiki; see: SageTV Capture Color Calibration - Andy

I found that at some point the WinDVD decoder just decided to crush white and black very badly on my system -- no calibration could fix it. I believe they developed a misconfiguration in its color space conversion. Switching the decoder completely solved my problem.
So, if you've calibrated and calibrated and it just doesn't seem right, perhaps a colorspace conversion problem is biting you. |

Or, do you have any THX DVDs?
http://www.thx.com/mod/products/dvd.html#optimizer If not, I know the Indiana Jones DVDs have it on them so you could rent one of them (and you get a good movie too ) |

The only thing is, I have a standalone DVD player, so wouldnt the color adjustments be different since it isnt the HTPC?

You run that DVD on the HTPC and calibrate the display to it (the HTPC).
