I have a similar situation, but am hoping mine is different enough to work...

I have 3 PVR250s tuning from 3 DirecTV receivers. I want to order a PPV event for a day that I will not be home to watch or manually change channel. And I guess with DTV the PPV is per receiver, not per household.

If I can find out what channel the PPV event is on, is there a way to tell Sage to record that specific channel, using the specific tuner and PPV is enabled for? Then create a manual recording to record the program?

You would need to have the PPV channel enabled in the source setup for the respective tuner. Even if you don't get EPG for that channel, you can still setup a timed recording.

My question would be: don't you have to enter some things with the remote to accept the PPV fee? Not sure if you could automate that process..

I can purchase the PPV event on the DirecTV website, but I have to assign it to one receiver. So I want to purchase it, assign to one, then setup a manual recording to get it. Just don't know how to be sure the right tuner will be used.

Don't feel like paying $50 for 2 hours of black screen...

Just make sure that channel is only in the source lineup of the tuner recording off that DirecTV receiver. (Disable that channel in the source lineup of the other two receivers if necessary.)

Don't forget that changing the lineup for one tuner affects all tuners that use the same lineup. Channels lineups are stored per provider, not per tuner, so if they all use the same DirecTV lineup, you can't enable a channel only on one tuner.

Actually I'm fairly certain you can enable a channel only on one tuner. By disabling the channel on tuners you don't want to use it. After tuners and EPG setup for tuners go back in: setup>setup wizard>select tuner you don't want to use channel>channel setup>un-highlight channel(s) you don't want that tuner to use.

You can only enable/disable a channel for a specific tuner if that tuner uses a lineup that is not used by your other tuners. Go ahead and try it to see what happens - choose a tuner that uses the same EPG Lineup as another tuner, change its channels the way you suggested & then check the channels for another tuner.

Well shoot, just tried it on analog extended basic lineup, disabled one tuner and it became disabled on the other analog extended basic tuners, you're of course correct. My bad, I'd used that method to disable the lower channels on the digital cable tuner lineup card. Too bad it can't be done that way though...

So is the recommendation to use a different DTV lineup for a specific tuner, then only enable the channel I want to record, and create a manual recording?

Sounds like that should work.

If separate EPG lineups are available to you, that's the way to go. I can record channels 1-99 directly off my ConvertX tuner and then have the digital cable box feed the s-video input with the digital epg lineup all channels 100 and above. (Thanx be to Andy )

Andy, is this still the case with Sage 6.19? Do you know of any way around it? I would also love to be able to have tuner spcific channels regardless of the lineup or matching lineups.

Any advice? I can't seem to find an alternative lineup that suits what I need!

Thanks very much,

Christian

All tuners that use a shared lineup share all settings for that lineup. You have to use separate lineups to have separate settings.

In v6, you can map a different station to a channel, so you could use some other lineup & remap the channels/stations you want to use.

Thanks for the quick reply Andy. I have resorted to trying to use a zap2itlabs EPG plugin made by Digicasa... this appears to work just fine in Sage 6.19, but because I have to change the property below (in sage.properties) it won't allow me to use the regular SageTV integrated lineup. Is there a way to have 2 different sources of lineups?

changed from
epg/epg_import_plugin=

to
epg/epg_import_plugin=zap2it.Zap2ItImportPlugin

Ok, I scrapped the idea of getting an importer to work... seems like too much trouble if it is even possible.

I am attempting what you said to do (mapping channels), but this seems incredibly tedious with over 300 channels to add to a source that doesn't really resemble mine.

is there a way to copy the channel data in one of the properties files from one tuner source to the other? This way I could copy my original Rogers lineup directly over the new fake lineup (that I am manually changing) and then just pick the channels I wanted...

Is this wishful thinking??

Thanks!

If there is a way to do it manually, I don't know how.

I ended up having these 2 options:

Rogers Digital Cable
Rogers Cable.

So i just added all the digital channels to the analogue lineup... took me all night, and I hope to god that i don't have to do it again!!

Thanks very much for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

Just remember to periodically make backups of your wiz.bin and sage.properties files.
