How to assign recording to certain capture card
I have 2 PVR-150 cards. They are connected to two Dish network receivers and they use the same EPG channels (Another question - is it possible to have two different lines in EPG for the same channel? It might solve my problem...).
Every time I'm trying to record two programms at the same time Sage records one receiver's program under another receivers EPG program name and vice versa. Could somebody advise how to assign recording to certain card, so recordings will have correct names/ times/ durations? Thank you. Alex |

Can you clarify your setup a little bit? Are the two receivers using the exact same EPG lineup?

Yes, They both have Dish Network line-up.
I don't know if I can assign different line-ups. I tried Basic and Extended basic, but they give the same results. |

I do not understand
do you have two different line ups from dish network using the same service ? |

No. Both receivers are using the same line-up.
When I choose to record two different programs on two different channels at the same time (program A on channel 1, program B on channel 2) Sage records them, but recording from channel 1 has all attributes (start/stop time and name for program B and vice versa. May be problem is that Sage can't control switching channels for 2nd receiver (as it's in different room), and my IRBlaster doesn't work for 1st receiver (I'm waiting for replacement). But anyway I think I should be able to tell Sage that I want to use receiver 1 for channel 1, and receiver 2 for channel 2?... |

And FWIW, could you give a specific example, I'm not 100% sure I understand. For example is this what you're seeing: Cold Case on CBS 9-10 ER on NBC 8:59-10 You record them both, the resulting recordings: Cold Case 9-10, is actually ER and ER 8:59-10, is actually Cold Case Is that about right? If so, I'm guessing you have your blasters switched, otherwise I'm sure we'd have seen a great commotion about this by now. |

Yes, this is what I get! And even worse - if one show starts half hour later than other - I get partial recording.
And as I mentioned my blasters are not working now. I'm trying to manually switch channels on my receivers, and I also want to record Gold Case from receiver 1 but ER from receiver 2. And I can't find the way to tell Sage that this is what I really want it to do. |

I see!
Yeah, there's no way to say record program X on tuner 1, that's meant to be abstracted from the user. The closest you can get is by setting the encoder merit. You could set the merit for encoder 1 higher than 2, in which case, the show that starts earlier should get recorded on 1 and the later on 2. |

probably best to disable that tuner until the ir blaster gets here

OK. Thank you for quick response.
I'll try to play with it little bit more. Tomorrow I'll need to record from both receivers, so I'll probably mark for recording all programs on both channels and then try to manually dig through this mess... |

just figure out which show will be recorded by which tuner card and manually set up a timer on the box to tune the channels at that time
this will get you buy until the ir blaster gets here if no timer you will have to change channels for it |

Thank you again!
P.S. But it would be nice to have this kind of control anyway... |

I think you will always have problems if you don't also let SageTV control changing the channels on that 2nd receiver. Even if you were to set the encoder merit, it will be difficult to always catch it so that the 'correct' show gets recorded on each tuner. What IR blaster are you using? If it is the one on the 150, I believe you can only have one of those active on a single PC & you can't currently use the other one as a netowrk encoder via SageTVRecorder. I think you would be better off getting a USB-UIRT & use it to control both STBs from the same PC.
(Of course, there is still the issue of making sure that the each tuner gets the input from the STB you expect.) - Andy

I saw on the forum for Sage TV recorder software that it's possible to have two instances of Sage recorder. Will this help in my case?

But if I'll use SageTV for one card, and SageRecorder for 2nd card - shouldn't it resolve the conflict even without using any blasters?

Or, can I use two independent instances of SageTV (the same way as Sage Recorder - two SageTV folders with different cards in each)?

no it sounds until the pvr 150 and its blaster are supported in sagerecorder
your only option is to put both in the SageTV server box and buy a USB UIRT to control both pvr 150s I would email SageTV and ask if they plan to support network encoders with the pvr 150 and if the ir blaster will be supported on the network encoder |
