I'm new to sage, but haven't been able to figure this one out
Recording of favorites to a separate folder Being able to record them at a higher quality is nice, but having them in a separate folder would make it much easier to use AutoGK on them. IG |

iTunes Shared Libraries
I don't think it's been mentioned specifically. I don't know if it's even possible. I have an iPod and, of course, use iTunes for my music library. iTunes has a built-in feature to share the library with other computers. It would be a great feature if SageTV could automatically search for and access any iTunes shared libraries on the network.
This could be a bit complicated with DRM protected AAC files but if, like myself, you just have a bunch of non-DRM MP3's in your collection this would work great. |

Enable search for asterisks
Don't know if this is a bug or a feature request. I would like to be able to search for all four star movies. These all have four consecutive asterisks (****) in the description field. If I search for **** it finds nothing. If this worked, I could search out four star or three star movies.

ditto the idea about saerching for 4 star movies. never thought about it!
I also would like to be able to rename files (\path\path\myrecordedshow.mpg) inside sage and retain the EPG data. this is keeping the file in the same location, but changing the name only.

How about:
a) Record options for a series: First Run Only, Every, etc. b) Fast forward (x2, x4, x8, etc) as well as the skip buttons. c) The ability for the SageTV client to use a local tuner for live TV and the server for scheduled recordings. (this is my biggest beef) 4) support for the Fusion III QAM HDTV tuner card. |

Could there be an option for the listings (recorded shows, library, etc) that tells it to NOT wrap around back to the beginning (1st / last item)? It's a bit confusing...
Edit: From a reply by stanger89: bbroerman, regarding your requests: a) Can already be done, options are First Run, Rerun, both. Wrapping - Some of the custom STVs already have that. Last edited by Opus4; 04-08-2005 at 02:36 PM. Reason: added user reponse |

I would like tripple-tap supported for text entry via remote number keypad. This would be easier than all that arrow scrolling to type in words.

True VMR9 support. Mine studders when I use FFDshow and Dscaler and nVidia DVD Decoder.

I'm new to SageTV and I really like it, but I would like to see a feature similar to the showqueeze on Beyond TV so that I can create a wmv. file that takes up less space.
Edit: check the SageTV Customizations forum for some possible solutions. - Opus4 |

The ability to set a tuner preference for each favorite. I'm using my FusionHDTV via Stealth's plugin. Not all shows are HD, so it'd be incredibly useful to be able to specify my SD tuner when an SD show comes up.

I'd like extra control over the channels that a favourite can use (specify one/many, disallow one/many, allow all).

I'd like some sort of integrated recompression. Something automated, so one can just set the compression settings and let it go.. At the moment you have to do all sorts of file renaming and such to keep program info.

How about an option to start SageTV directly into the View TV mode tuned to the last channel watched.

Improvement for Channel Guide
I wish that Sage provides multiple user defined program listing (Guides) that can be switched between them in the Guide screen. Sage will record all channels as usual, but the guide list will only show the user Guide that is currently selected.
These user guides could have the following properties: 1) Maximum list of channels = Total channels that where enabled in the Sage channel configuration 2) The Name of the Guide can be set by user. 3) The user guide will contain a subset of channels from the Sage channel configuration. The subset can be set by user. 4) This user guides don’t stop Sage from recording channels wich appear in one guide and not in another. 5) Sage should remember the last Guide used or default to a guide (like “All Channels”) 6) The Sage Guide should display the current user guide. Guides could be limited to 5 or more and each have a color. Examples of user Guides: 1) Music - contains all music channels from provider 2) Jhon – Contains all favorite channels for user Jhon 3) Kelly - Contains all favorite channels for user Jhon wife 4) Movie – Contains all movie channels 5) All Channels – Contains all channels enabled in Sage (default guide) I think this would make Sage more friendly for the Family. |

The ability to "trigger" learned IR commands
I saw in the IR setup option that you could teach SageTV other IR commands so I picked up my TV remote and taught it how to turn the TV on and off, but now I can't find a way to "automate" this through SageTV. If you could add these new learned IR commands to SageTV's command list then we could assign and keystroke to it and, of course, then program a remote to send those commands. It would be great to hit one button on my remote and turn the TV off and put Sage to sleep and do the same to wake it up and turn on the TV.

One Tivo feature that I actually liked was when a show promo came on, either at the end of a show for the next showing or during commercials it asked if you wanted to record it.
So I could be watching something and a promo for another show comes on and it looks pretty good so I want to record it. Instead of having to go through the guide, Tivo asked if you wanted to record it, this is transparent, so you don't have to click yes or no, you can just ignore it. Anyone that's used a tivo should know what I'm talking about - Anyway it would be a pretty nice feature to have. |

make sure the user has the option to have REAL LIVE TV without timeshifting.
just like in WinTv. Because I never use timeshifting and i hate this 2 second break between channels when switching. This would make SageTv a million times better. |

"Black List" Option to tell Intelligent Recording absolutely under no circumstances record a given show unless explicitly told to do so via adding that show as a favorite, or doing a manual recording (and not include Channel surfing in that).
Pretty please with sugar on top. See http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11378 for more discussion on this.. |

New entries in Browse by Category
I'm very pleased to have chosen SageTV as my new PVR software, and love a great many of its features. One thing I haven't found while searching these forums and reading the manual is a way to discover new programming when I return to "Browse by Category" after a period of time. It may simply be ignorance, of course, knowing me.
I just think it would be great if I could know which movies, documentaries, etc. have been added to the various category lists since the last time I checked, instead of scrolling backward until I think I see familiar stuff again (or the air date is old enough). Thanks to everyone who posts in these forums, you've helped convince me to choose SageTV over a host of other PVR solutions. |
