Some CPU Help?
Right now I am playing with the trial of SageTV and so far I am loving it... aside from 1 thing...
I have 3 monitors on my system, 2 running from my 6800 and 1 from my GeForce 2. I also have an ATI TV Wonder PRO (it was a gift). I stuck this third monitor on the GeForce 2 so I could use it for watching TV. The only way I can get video is if I set it to use VMR9... when I do that CPU use is VERY LOW on my main monitor (on 6800). But if I move it to my other monitor on the 6800 or GeForce 2 CPU use goes up to 98% and video becomes VERY jumpy. I know there is a way to have it running on the GeForce 2 card with low CPU, because I can do it when using Cyberlink PowerVCR II... I just like the layout and features of Sage better I can understand VMR9 not working on my GeForce 2... but why won't it work on my second monitor on the 6800? Right now i'm using the ForceWare 71.20 Win2000/XP for my video cards. How could I get it running on either of my monitors? Thanks |

try using default rendering
it is VMR7 although video quality is not quite as good it will work you video card only has one GPU thats why 3d rendering is fine for the primary monitor and not the secondary which is made for 2d rendering only |

How can I use VMR7 when it's not even an option?
And there is full 3D support on the second monitor on my 6800.. I can play 3D games on it fine.... and use OpenGL modelers and such.... |

In SageTV the setting options for Video Renderer are:
Default (which would be VMR7 in WinXP) Overlay VMR9 In general VMR9 (and sometimes also 3D Acceleration) will not work well on the secondary output of most graphics cards. If you use Overlay on the secondary, there may be problems if something else wants to use Overlay on the primary also. There are always some limitations if you try to use both a monitor and TV out independently because both still have to go thru one GPU in the graphics card. |

Emm I thought I replied to this earlier but appearentelly I didn't...
If I use any setting but VMR9 on any monitor either I can't see a picture at all or CPU is 100%. |

What MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter are you using in SageTV?
and what resolutions are you running all these monitors at? |

Right now it's set on Default...
I can change it to Cyberlink or Intervideo... or default... Maybe it's my MPEG2 decoder having problems? After getting this TV tuner and trying out a few TV tuner programs I have troubles playing DVD's... they sudnelly are jerkey and have no audio :/ O and res's are 1280x960, then the other 2 monitors are at 1024x768 Edit - Humm now that's freakin weird... I totally uninstallted the program, reinstalled, then selected Default insted of VMR9... I didn't see any picture but then I dragged the window like below the taskbar to where I coulden't see it then brought it back up and the picture was there... it's like it doesn't refresh.... But hey it works fine on all monitors with low CPU Last edited by PCGUY112887; 12-28-2004 at 02:56 AM. |
