Help needed with TV-out Radeon 9550
I apologize in advance as this is not directly related to Sage but since the system in question is intended to be used with Sage I posted this. Any help is appreciated.
I bought this Shuttle PC at Best Buy the other (last on on display.. very good deal). It comes with an ATI Sapphire 9550 256meg video card. The system and video card work without problem once attached to a CRT or LCD display; however, I bought this one to use as a client for a TV. The first time I hooked up the S-Video out to TV (it comes wih DVI, RGB, and S-video, no RCA), the boot screen and everything else that followed rolled up 1-2 per second and the output was black and white. To make the long story short, some helpful soul on a Saphhire forum suggested that there might be a jumper on the video card for NTSC/PAL... Well I found a jumper (not documented anywhere) and changed its postions. Here is what I have now. The boot screen as well as the XP splash screen no longer rolls and the XP splash screen comes in full color (I thought Wow.. it really worked) but by the time the logon screen appears, everything went back to the same problem... rolling started and color went away. I did Safe Mode boot and guess what? no roll, and full color. What do you guys suggest? Thanks, |

Success finally...
With the help of a guy in England on Sapphire forum, it's working flawlessly now. The lesson learned: The video card was set to PAL instead of NTSC even though Shuttle had confirgured this for the US market for Best Buy!! There is a very small jumper on the card itself that is not documented anywhere except on the forum mentioned above. Also, Catalyst 4.9 seems to have bug resulting in rolling of the picture off S-Video. I changed to 4.8 version of Omega drivers instead of Catalyst 4.9 and it's working perfectly. Just in case anybody looks for these drivers, they can be found at www.omegadrivers.net/main.php |
