Ahh, having read that I finally feel better as to why I went with "TheaterTek DVD 2.0 with Advanced Audio Pack" for $89.95 as to the $20 for just the decoders from nVidia. I've been kicking myself for a long time thinking that I was, to quote Napolean D., "a frickin' idiot!" but I guess I lucked out and avoided a problem I didn't know existed.

I don't have a fancy A/V receiver and I just use my HTPC with Klipsch Ultra 5.1 for everything and didn't have the problem of "no sound except for S/PDIF" problem described above. It must be because of the TT2/nVidia decoder software.

Thanks for the URL, but can you tell me the full path to the decoder?
I found, "downloads\nvdvd" but it contains what I believe is version 2.55.
They can't possibly be up to that version yet.

TIA

1) If you have a Geforce 5 or 6 series card, you can enable Smart control with Hardware Accelleration enabled (DXVA Mode) and the film detection is done in hardware on the GPU.
2) If you don't have one of the above cards, then you have to use the nVidia Video Post Processor filter to do the film detection in software mode.

Either way will work, but I'm rather fond of DXVA mode since it offers superb deinterlacing of video content that's not possible or not done in software mode AFIAK.
Two questions:

1. How do you know if you are in DXVA mode? Is there a registry setting that needs to be adjusted to make this work or is it something within Sage or the decoders?

2. If you have a Radeon video card, what are the best NV DVD settings to use for the highest quality playback?

Check the Hardware Accelleration box in the nVidia control pannel, and it should say DXVA IVTC Mode A (or something like that) on the right when you're playing something.

Not really sure, the really cool stuff (especially film detection) isn't available on a Radeon. But my guess would be that DXVA mode would be best, probably with Auto control, and Pixel Adaptive deinterlacing (if it's available).
