New NVDVD is out...kinda

The new version of nvdvd is linked on their front page, but looks like the file itself isnt, yet. Someone on AVS who has it used in conjunction with the beta driver (71.20) is getting good results. Lets keep our fingers crossed

Way cool

Can't wait to try this tonight. I was wondering why I was not seeing cpu drop with VPP codec and my new 6600GT.

This is a good read also relating to the NVDVD or Purevideo as they are calling it now

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2305&p=2

Looks like us 6800gt/ultra users are screwed with WMVHD playback like alot of people thought. Nvidia

got it - checking it as we speak.
I was getting lots of frams drops using DXVA with my 6800GT. I uninstalled TT2 and reinstalled just the nvdvd decoder (the 1.00.58) this got rid of most of the frame drops. I have now updated to 1.00.67. I still have about the same number of frame drops. I also can't really see any improvement in picture quality. So far I have only been looking at TV content, not DVD's

Post your own thoughts about the new decoder!!

Did you upgrade to the latest beta GPU driver?

I believe "pure video" only works with 70.3.

you need to uninstall the old decoders and then reboot then install new decoders or you will be using the old version still

I am running driver vsn 71.20 at the moment. You can find this beta driver easily in a google search.

I presume that "pure video" will work with any driver later than 67.03?!?

Upgrade Cost

I just got through purchasing the other NVDVD drivers; anyone know what the length of time is before we have to pay for an upgrade? Frankly, I will be demanding my money back since it has been less than 30 days since I bought this version. I am looking on NVIDIA's site, but haven't seen the answer so far.

Nevermind; seems that I should be able to upgrade to this latest version at no additional cost

I just finished installed the latest NVDVD decoder and 67.22 drivers and I must say that their is a LARGE improvement over the previous. I had just changed to the DSCaler 5, but I think this latest improvement may win my vote for cleaner quality. I do not see nearly as much tearing as I did at the top segment of the screen and the stuttering is also reduced. I cannot wait to hear what others have to say who also take the plunge!

I get no micro stutters after the upgrade
I choose to use 67.03
although still beta they are the official release with pure video
67.22 is WHQLed but no sure if pure video is implimented but I would hope so
my troubles now seems to be short pauses in the video
much like lag when playing online games
I did see this before and hope when 2.2 is release this cna be fixed
using the beta 2.2 currently

Unfortunately, I spoke too soon. While the SAGE recordings are great, the DVD playback is wreaking havoc on me. the VPP option will not even play, and the NVIDIA Decoder option is having some major slowdown effect; it is almost like I need to wind up the DVD to get the video up to speed, LOL. I will continue to play with the video settings today and tomorrow and see if I can figure out what the heck is going on..

that slow down was the reason I am using 67.03
after I installed these instead of 67.22 everything was fine
and not sure why you cannot use NvVPP with DVDs but I get the same thing
black screen
