Playback of alternative formats?

I have been trying for two days to get Sage to properly hadle .mkv format and .move 3ivx format. I've installed all sorts of arrangements of decoders. I can get them all to play in zoomplayer on the same machine. But when it comes to Sage it gives different errors depending on the codecs installed.

I don't enderstand why if I am properly playing them in zoomplayer they still will not work in Sage. If they are working in Zooomplayer then I've the decoder/codecs installed properly so why is Sage having such a hard time with these files?

Thanks for any help.

Sage isn't very smart when it comes to new file types & encoding formats.

The true test is to be able to play the files first in Windows Media Player. If the file plays, that means the proper DirectShow filters are available for the video renderer.
