Post EPG discussion

Hi all,

Since I'm fairly new to PVR and Sage, I was hoping someone could enlighten me on how the EPG works. Where does it come from? Where does that company get their data? How is all this information compiled from the 100's(?) of different television networks/providers?

Basically the SageTV connects to Frey to download the guide data. Frey purchases the (US) guide data from Tribune Media Services via Zap2It. I believe TMS supplies the guide data to nearly everyone. As for specifically how it's compiled I don't know the specifics, but I imagine the networks/stations submit their schedules to TMS, who then distributes it.
