Pay-Per-View Plugin

With all the amazing plug-ins out there, I was just thinking out loud and I was wondering how hard would it be to make a Pay-Per-View plugin to download Pay-Per-View guide data from a different service other than Zap2It? TitanTv for example has pay-per-view guide data for most of the major vendors.

I think the best way for this plugin to work is that you specify what channels to get the pay-per-view for, (EG: For dishnetwork it would be channels 500-600, For DirecTV it would be channels 100-200) This way our reliable zap2it guide data with FirstRun/Rerun status would still be active downloading for all other channels. Now I'm sure the zap2it data would still download for the pay-per-view channels but if there is someway we could overwrite it with the plugin data that would be great!!!

Now I am no where near a coder so there is no way I could do this, but if someone else wants to take this upon them, I will help in anyway I can including testing.

Hope to hear from the coders soon!!!

I'd like to see this feature also actually. I've been thinking about doing PPV recordings...is this interesting to anyone else? Why isn't this included in the current EPG?

I'm interested in this as well. Frey has claimed that the PPV data isn't available, yet we've made them aware that TitanTV has it. Their current policy of no communication has kind of left us out in the cold on this one.

There are quite a few people on this forum that would love to have this, hopefully they will see this thread and we'll see if 'maybe' one of the Studio guru's would be kind enough to whip something up.

Ditto!

Also, I'd like to be able rename Timed Recordings. Yeah - I know you can move the file manually and rename it outside of Sage, but you lose all the other info in wiz.bin then. Besides, it's a real pain to have to step out of Sage for this.

Well ideally you wouldn't have to rename recordings if we got the plugin to actually populate the EPG with the correct information. So I see there is a bunch of people that want this, now is there anyone out there that is willing to take this task?

On C band we have a similar problem with wildfeeds. There is no guide for it at all. I think an ideal solution would be for you to either have something like a partial xmltv import or when you setup the event you can manually populate the info you want stored with it, similar to how the guide would normally present the info.

PPV channels are in my lineup. Cox digital cable, Phoenix, AZ. I just have no way to send the IR codes to purchase/unlock the shows. Personally, I have no need for PPV since I pay Blockbuster $25 a month for offline DVD storage which works out to be cheaper as long as I watch a lot of DVD's each month. Nevertheless, I can see how many would like this added.

Being a studio person I can say I don't see how you can add PPV and the internal logic needed to be able to order it. To do this right it needs to be embedded in the core which is beyond what Studio will do for us.

Maybe Media Center 3.0 will have this functionality???

I'm not sure I see the problem then since there has already been a way to import PPV I believe for a while now.

Cayars: How can we import just PPV data? We don't want to import all other epg data as the information from Zap2IT is great for all other channels just not PPV.

Is it not possible to create a new EPG source and use the xmltv data-source plugin to import this data. You would setup the xmltv data source to only import the PPV channels. SageTV would then "merge" the multiple EPG sources for you.

Does this not work?

EDIT: After taking a quick look at the way the XMLTV plugin works I don't think you can do this. Looks like it's an all or nothing type thing. Bummer.

yea..thats what it seemed like to me when I was looking into it. But would you be able to do something like this with studio maybe??

As for purchasing through sage. It is very possible. I have ir files which allow to send the enter command (dish) + a universal remote(lola) w/ girder, I was able to complete the transaction w/o a problem.

I.
