Addede Speakers No sound

I just added Klipich speakers to the PC which has an on board sound chip. After firing up SageTv I did not have any sound. It seems that Sage insists on putting the following in the Sage Properties file even though I have deleted it a couple of time "mmc/ignore_encoders=SoundMAX Digital Audio". SoundMax is the on board audio. Under setup Sage see the SoundMax and I have it selected to use it.

Anyone know why this is happening. Does it have anything to do with the fact that I am using a 350. I wouldn't thing so. Thanks

What audio renderer do you have selected in detailed setup?

That line in the properties file should have no effect since you aren't using that device to record audio, my M-Audio Revolution is always listed on that line but works fine.

I have DirectSound: SoundMax Audio selected. Their is also a SoundMax Digital sound listed. I have tried both with no success. By the way I do get sound outside of Sage.

Do they work in other applications?

I know this is basic, but check to make sure the speakers are setup correctly such as the wires go where they are supposed. I have had countless times i had a + going to the - slot or i plugged the output jack into the mic jack. I have the klipsch promedia pc speakers too and have found that if i have the front/back channels switched on the sound card, the sound comes out very very low. Im not sure if the newer models are still setup the way mine are, but they might be.

stanger89 don't bother looking at the zip file its empty. The problem I am having is I used print screen to capture the image in SageTV. unfortuantly the file are to big to upload the board as a 750 limit . I don't have any software on this system other then notepad. It captured the but just to big. I will simpley just tyope what is in each area in sage.

Here goes under current Audio Renderer

Default
SoundMax Didgital Audio
Default Direct Sound Device
Default Waveout Devise
Directsound:SoundMax Digital audio.
DoundmaxDigital Audio is selected

Under Current Mpeg2 Audio Decoder I have:
Default
Intervideo Noncss Audio Decoder for Hauppauge
Mped Audio Decoder
NVIDIA Audio Decoder
SageTV MPEG Audio Decoder
NVIDIA Audio decoder is selected.

Depending on version, your problem may be that you're trying to use the nVidia Audio Decoder. The 4.00.58 version is locked such that it won't do anything but pass AC3 audio (ie won't decode MPEG audio) in SageTV. Give either Default or "SageTV MPEG Audio Decoder" a try.

I never would have thought of that, because when I try to use the nVidia Audio Decoder I get a graph error.

I tried both SageTV and Default Audio decoders and still no sound. Again I would like to confirm that using the 350 card does not require me to use the audio out because I am using the Hardware video decoder . I am operating under the assumtion that audio is seperate , is that in fact correct?

Ooh, 350, missed that somehow

OK, so I'll start from the top.

Where do you have your speakers connected, soundcard or 350?
If it's on the soundcard, do you have software encoding disabled?

The Speakers are connected to the sound card which in this case is on motherboard an Intel Analog Devices AD 1985 codec. They give you this SoundMax software to manage the sound. I am not sure where you disable software encoding? I assume you are referring to the Sound card software? If so I will see if it has such a setting, I don't recall ever seeing it. Thanks again appreciate your time.

no you disable software decoding in SageTV
you know where it displays on the computer monitor and on the TV that the pvr 350 is connected to

the monitor is displayed using software decoding
you need to enable this to get sound with those speakers

in sageTV
