Sony Control-S & IR

Does anyone know if the Sony Control-S that's on the back of pretty much any Sony gear is the same thing as IR port?

I ask becuase I'm faced with having to run a IR blaster cable from the USB-UIRT up the front of the TV set, which is going to look goofy. I was wondering (before I go purchase a 1/8" mini-jack cable) if I can just hook the cable between the UIRT and the Sony via Control-S.

Thanks,

Stacy

No. the Sony control-s is not an IR port. It is (i believe) a proprietary serial port. there are devices that can add control of Sony C-S devices to a PC though. Do a google for s-linke ( I think).
