I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether the SageTV recorder will allow for the video to be captured in Divx while the audio is handled in MP3. It is my understanding that the Intervideo software included with the unit when purchased directly from Plextor is now offering a $15.00 upgrade for the service. If not, is there a similar upgrade for SageTV in the works or workarounds using Plextors GoCap utility?

Are you asking whether SageTV Recorder will ever have support for the Plextor device, or are you asking whether SageTV will use it to record in a different format? (They are two differnt products.)

I'm already aware that SageTV supports the Plextor ConvertX TV402U. The problem is that the unit natively supports encoding audio into MP2. Therefore software, like the Intervideo software bundled on the Plextor site, requires an upgrade in order to enable audio to be encoded as an MP3. I'm wondering if SageTV does this already, or will require a similar upgrade.

The Plextor spec page only mentions mp2 for audio http://www.plextor.com/english/produ...edtechspec.htm
But if Andy or another guru knows what the outputstreamtype=### means in sage.properties, that is where the answer would be found. I made a few of my own recording qualities and adjusted the audio bit rate & sampling, but I left the outputstreamtype alone because I don't know if 102 (for example) means mp2 or PCM or is a quantity of something. |

I know this is an old thread, but it still seems like a valid question...
Intervideo offers a 15 dollar upgrade to their Creator software which adds more compression modes to the Convertx for MP3 audio encoding. (the website for this upgrade is accessable via WinDVD Creator's help menu> upgrade) when/if/how can I access these modes with SageTV? Would Frey have to pay for MP3 liscensing and charge us, or would this Intervideo upgrade be sufficient? The fact that STV 2.1 relies on WinDvd Creator for the unwrapping stuff leads to think maybe so... I doubt it could it be as simple as messing with the outputsteam variable but I hope something can be worked out. Starting to get really bummed that I overlooked this when purchasing the device. Huge filesizes and audio sync problems aren't small overlook-able issues. Should have known it was too good to be true. I must have compressed (and properly synced - but thats another thread) audio! Hardware Divx encoding without it is pointless IMHO. Last edited by Spacechip; 03-31-2005 at 12:49 AM. |

SageTV - Record in MP3 Audio
A very valid question - can (or will) SageTv be configured / modified to record in MP3 audio. I am using the Plextor ConvertX product mentioned above and concur that hardware it can only output MP2 Audio. Is there a way to force Sage to convert to MP3 in software. This issue is extremely annoying for me given that my Archos player does not support MP2. If anyone has a workaround I'd love to hear it (would prefer not to have to rencode after the fact.)
THANKS!! |
