CPU goes to 100% after adding video directory
My SageTV software is causing my CPU to go to 100% whenever I add a video directory that points to my T:\ drive.
This drive contains 60 GB of mpeg files that were recorded with Sage 2.0. The drive is only 25% full. I am having this problem with Sage TV versions 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2beta. This is repeatable. It has happened about seven times. I have to kill the program with Task Manager. When I restart the Sage TV software it never gets past the startup screen - freezing on loading the 'core' files. If I delete the sage.properties and wiz.bin files then I can re-enter the software. Thanks much, Troy ------------------- Windows XP SP2 Pentium 4 2.0GHZ Hauppauge Roslyn PVR Card 512 MB RAM 80 GB hard drive 250 GB hard drive |

I've found similar problems occuring with a bad video file; maybe the computer rebooted while recording, or something like that. Just go into your video directory and look for the file with the most recent timestamp. Try moving it out or deleting it and then relaunching sage.

Also look for any files with a zero length.
However, I don't think that's what is happening here. When you add a folder with that many files already in it, SageTV will go a bit crazy for quite a while scanning and double checking if those are or are not in its wiz.bin and things like that. When you try it next time, just try and ride out the storm and wait. Could take 5 or 10 minutes, but with luck it should eventually come back... assuming it is doing what I think it is 'cause I have seen it do something similar in the past on my end. However, you did say something about being stuck on loading core files. I don't recall that happening, so there may be another problem. Give the above a try and if it don't come out of it after say 10 minutes then there may be something else wrong. Also, I'd recommend trying to put back v2.0 first. There have been a few users were the files got deleted instead when messing around with v2.1. I do hope that doesn't happen to yours! Last edited by mls; 12-06-2004 at 12:09 AM. |
