6600GT + NVDVD + VMR9 = crap

I just upgraded my FX5200 to an XFX 6600GT AGP. I'm using VMR9 with the latest NVDVD codec set to Smart deinterlace. The brightness constantly fluctuates by about 10%-15%. It only happens with the NVDVD codec, the Sonic and NVDVD Post Processor works OK. The quality seems about equal or maybe a bit less than the FX5200. I wasn't expecting a night and day improvement, but I certainly wasn't expecting it to be worse. Any ideas?
